jessicaNurturing touch is a matter of necessity, a crucial element of holistic existence.

After completing the massage therapy program at East West College of the Healing Arts, I realized the infinite possibilities of somatic bodywork. My training there consisted of Swedish and Deep Tissue massage while incorporating many Asian modalities and education in meridian patterns. I later traveled through South East Asia for several months studying the various healing practices of that region. In my current practice I use western style massage as the matrix and employ acupressure and various Thai based stretches into each session. I believe this fusion of techniques creates a potent dance of somatic healing.

I have worked collectively in Portland with chiropractors and acupuncturists who have provided me the opportunity to work with many different car accident cases, back injuries and repetitive stress injuries. This exposure has been invaluable and is currently a large portion of my practice.

pregnancy photoPrior to pursuing massage therapy I trained as a birth doula and love working in this setting. Since returning to the states, I have trained in obstetrical massage on site at Oregon Health Science University and currently volunteer my services there on the labor and delivery unit. I offer both pregnancy and postpartum sessions at my studio, as well as on call massage support for both home and hospital births. This service is limited in availability and must be arranged ahead of time.

This work as a healer and witness is both technical and intuitive and one that I am honored to participate in.
